Pakistan: Delegates of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha attended the Symposium on the Gandhara Buddhist Heritage 2023

Recently, the Conference "Cultural Diplomacy: Reviving Gandhara Civilization and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan" was opened in the capital Islamabad with the participation of the President of Pakistan - Dr. Arif Alvi; Minister of State, Chairman Prime Minister's Task Force Gandhara Tourism - Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani and many Buddhist monks, cultural heritage researchers from countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and China. This is an important Buddhist event taking place over 3 days from July 11 to 13, 2023.

Representing Vietnamese Buddhism, Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien - Member of the 15th National Assembly, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council, Head of the Central Committee of International Buddhist Affairs Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, led the delegation; Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh - Deputy Head of the International Buddhist Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Committee of Information and Communication Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha also attended this conference. At the event, Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien delivered a speech on the preservation and promotion of the Gandhara civilization.

Prior to the conference, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Islamabad Museum where many artifacts of the ancient Gandhara civilization are preserved, and met with Minister of State Ramesh Kumar Vankwani. In a friendly atmosphere, the delegation praised the activities of the conference and the awareness of the Pakistani people about preserving and developing the ancient Gandhara civilization.
