18 gilded Arahant statues - the symbol of holy sages' noble virtues
This is a sacred site at Ba Vang Pagoda. If you wish to let go of the unwholesome deeds within yourself, sincerely rely on the righteous energy and virtuous restraint of the Sage Monks to eliminate negativity and fulfill your virtuous aspirations.
A special feature of Ba Vang Pagoda is 18 Arahant statues carved from stone and gilded with 99.98% pure gold. Each Arahant has a distinct name, background, practice methods, and contributions to saving sentient beings.
In Buddhism, Arahantship is the highest attainment among the Four Noble Fruits; its achievers have perfected their mastery of precepts, samadhi (concentration), and wisdom, totally ended three realms' sorrow, and forever escaped from the cycle of reincarnation.
The Buddha taught: “Revering those worthy of reverence yields immeasurable blessings.” To benefit the masses, helping them gain more blessings and happiness when visiting and practicing Buddhism here, Ba Vang Pagoda has had 18 Arahants statues crafted and enshrined, creating opportunities for everyone to pay respect and make offerings to them.
Following in the footsteps of the Buddha and his sage disciples, the monks of Ba Vang Pagoda have been rigorously practicing the noble Dhutanga (Buddhist austerities) day and night to reach the fruits of enlightenment for the sake of sentient beings.
