“Visiting the Pagoda and receiving a free coronavirus face mask, I find it a really meaningful action. It's so hard to buy a mask out there currently, but it's given free at the Pagoda, so I am very touched. When receiving the mask, I felt joyful and less worried while going sightseeing at the Pagoda. I am very grateful to the merit of Monks and Buddhists of Ba Vang Pagoda for caring for everyone's health” - shared Manh Cuong Nguyen from Cam Pha, Quang Ninh.
Quang Ninh, Vietnam - Till now, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a global health emergency. This is a dangerous disease which spreads rapidly and has a high mortality rate.
Ba Vang Pagoda gives away face masks for free
Facing the outbreak of the coronavirus for which there is no vaccine yet, Vietnam's Ministry of Health has proposed precautions against and preventions of the coronavirus infections, including encouraging citizens to wear face masks when going outside in order to reduce the risk of contact with people who have the symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. Out of concern for health, many people flocked to buy masks, which has made this item out of stock.
At the beginning of each lunar year, Vietnamese people have a long tradition of making a spring tour and visiting pagodas. A lot of people have been visiting Ba Vang Pagoda for sightseeing and making Buddhist prostrations. Since Saturday, February 01, 2020 (the 8th day of the first month in Year of the Rat), Monks, Nuns and Buddhists of Ba Vang Pagoda have been giving away thousands of face masks for free to visitors to the Pagoda. Receiving the masks, they seemed so touched and glad about the compassion of the Sangha and the Buddhists of the Pagoda.
Thoughts of Buddhists and visitors when receiving free face masks
Asked about the feelings when receiving the free masks at Ba Vang Pagoda, Hoang Dinh Vu, a young man from Bac Giang province, said: “Visiting the Pagoda today and being given free masks, my family and I are so happy and excited. I find the Buddhist community here so enthusiastic and thoughtful. I myself have a very good impression of the Abbot of the Pagoda. He teaches profound lessons. I feel that He is devoted to Buddhism. On behalf of my family, I wish the Abbot as well as all Monks and Nuns of Ba Vang Pagoda good health. And I hope that the cure for coronavirus infection will soon be found.”
What Hoang Dinh Vu feels may also be the thoughts of many other people when receiving the free masks from the Sangha and Buddhists of Ba Vang Pagoda.
Thousands of face masks have been given to visitors when they visit and go sightseeing at Ba Vang Pagoda. This action is derived from the compassionate mind of Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh and His Sangha with the hope of improving public awareness of health protection against coronavirus infections according to recommendations of Vietnam's Ministry of Health and spreading the light of the Buddha Dharma to all beings. Hopefully, there will soon be a cure for the current coronavirus. We wish everybody in the world a new year full of health and happiness.
