The tranquility of the Pagoda, combined with the stunning scenery, creates a truly unforgettable experience that will help visitors feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and inspired. For that reason, Ba Vang Pagoda is a popular destination for both inbound and outbound travelers. If you're wondering how to get there, consider the following methods.

2. Coach or bus

From Hanoi

Bus stations in Hanoi, such as My Dinh, Gia Lam, Giap Bat, .. (depending on your location), will provide transportation to Uong Bi city. The coach fares from Hanoi to Uong Bi range from 150,000 VND to 200,000 VND (~6,3 - 8,5 USD) per one-way route. As you arrive at the bus station, clarify your destination (usually, you might want to get to the Uong Bi bus station in Quang Ninh) and show the Pagoda's address to the staff. There might be no English speaker among the staff members, but if you tell them you want to go to Ba Vang Pagoda (or Chua Ba Vang in Vietnamese), they will give you the proper ticket and guide you to the right coach/bus.

Most coaches (or buses) do not stop by Ba Vang Pagoda as it lies on a highland. However, just tell the driver that you want to come to Ba Vang Pagoda and you will be able to get down to the right place.

After arriving in Uong Bi, you can take a taxi for about 50,000 to 70,000 VND (~2 - 3 USD) to get to Ba Vang Pagoda. The more affordable alternative is motorbike taxis (“xe om” in Vietnamese), which costs around 30,000 - 50,000 VND (~1,3 - 2 USD).

From Hai Phong

The same goes with Hai Phong bus stations (Vinh Niem, Thuong Ly, Lac Long,.), they also provide transportation services to Uong Bi. However, the price is fairly cheaper at around 80,000 VND to 150,000 VND (~3,3 - 6,3 USD) per guest.

From Ha Long

The national bus service in Quang Ninh makes it very easy to get to Ba Vang Pagoda. Take the local bus number 8 at any bus waiting station and you only have to pay 30,000 VND (~1,3 USD) for a 45 to 60-minute ride. What good is that the bus arrives every 20 minutes, so frequent service is available.

3. Limousine

Limousines are shuttle buses designed for higher-quality transportation. Instead of having to go to the bus station, you can choose this specialized pick-up service. However, it will cost more than the usual coaches. The price from Hanoi usually ranges from 200,000 VND to 300,000 VND (~8,5 - 12,5 USD) for a one-way shuttle while from Hai Phong it only takes around 150,000 VND (~6,3 USD). You can look up information and book these limousines on the Internet.

4. By plane

Please be noted that long-distance traveling is often considered dangerous. To ensure safety, we recommend that visitors from beyond a 500-kilometer radius or residing near an airport catch a flight to either Noi Bai or Cat Bi airport rather than traveling by other means. Flights to these airports are usually short and comfortable. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City only cost as much as 1 - 1,5 million VND (~44 -63 USD) during the off-peak season.

It takes 120 kilometers from the center of Hanoi and about 150 kilometers from Noi Bai International Airport to Ba Vang Pagoda. So taking a cab directly from Noi Bai to the Pagoda is usually not recommended since it costs a huge amount of money. Instead, you can catch a bus or book a limousine following the guidelines above.

The less common landing point that you can choose is Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong, which we recommend since it only takes a 1-hour ride to the Pagoda. You can get a cab and travel to the Pagoda directly from the airport, which might cost around 600,000 VND (25 USD).
