Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva: The embodiment of compassion and salvation
If you seek peace for yourself and your family and wish for everyone in your family to understand the Buddha's teachings, sow virtuous seeds, cultivate righteous faith and mind, and attain happiness and serenity, then wholeheartedly pray to the Bodhisattva for protection and support.
The statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva at Ba Vang Pagoda is one of the largest monolithic stone statues in Vietnam, standing 10 meters tall and weighing nearly 50 tons. The statue was meticulously carved from granite by skilled artisans in 2013.
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is the embodiment of compassion and salvation. His image is deeply familiar to the Vietnamese people; therefore, most pagodas in Vietnam enshrine his statue.
He also holds the title “The Lord of Great Compassion Who Omnipresently Hears All Cries to Save Suffering Beings.”
According to the Lotus Sutra, Universal Door chapter, this title comes from his great compassionate vow: whenever sentient beings are in danger and wholeheartedly recite his name, he will perceive that sound, come to their aid, and save them from suffering
