The Buddha's Halo: The Light of Wisdom of the Fully Enlightened One
The Buddha is the embodiment of supreme virtue and wisdom in the world, radiating a brilliant halo of light. You can request a Buddha Halo Bracelet as a reminder of his merit, wisdom, and compassion. You can pray for the support of his compassion, helping you cultivate greater merits and wisdom, live a life of mindfulness and kindness, and find happiness, peace, enlightenment, and liberation.
The Buddha's Halo - A bracelet of peace with 5 colors: blue, yellow, red, white, and orange that recalls the sacred event during the fourth week after Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment.
At that time, the Buddha used his supernatural powers to create a gem stupa—symbolizing the stupa of the Dharma. He resided in this stupa, observing and contemplating the smallest arising and ceasing of the mind.
For seven days, he illuminated the streams of mind, the progression and functioning of all beings and realms; establishing the Dharma to enlighten beings. During this period, his body and mind became absolutely bright and pure, emitting a brilliant halo with colors: blue, yellow, red, white, orange, and a luminous sixth color created by the blending of the other five.
Later, inspired by these five colors radiating from the Buddha's miraculous halo, an American Navy Colonel named Henry Steel Olcott came up with an idea and discussed it with Most Venerable Sumangala Maha Thero, a Buddhist monk of Sri Lanka, to design what is now the Buddhist flag.
In this New Year, Ba Vang Pagoda provides peace bracelets to the public and Buddhists, symbolizing the five colors of the Buddha's halo.
It is hoped that, when wearing this bracelet, your mind will turn toward the Buddha—the Great Enlightened One with perfect wisdom, great loving-kindness, and great compassion. From this, we shall practice the Buddha's teachings, which are the means to help us escape suffering and attain peace and happiness.
Wishing everyone a new year filled with good health, full of love, happiness, and peace in the compassionate light of Buddhas of all ten directions.
