“In this rapidly developing society, Buddhist meditation is vitally in need. Therefore I advise that all of you should explore and learn about it. Practicing meditation helps us stabilize our mind, hence easing our worries and lighting up our wisdom; we can think and reason about many things in a clear way,” shared Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh in his sermon at Gwanmun Temple, South Korea.
During his Dharma-propagation tour in South Korea, Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh not only gave Buddhist sermons but also held walking meditation sessions for expatriate Buddhists, so that they could learn and benefit from Buddhist meditation.
Lay Buddhist practise meditation to gradually let go of greed, hate and delusion, then we can compose our mind to observe the precepts. From the observation of the precepts, concentration will arise, from concentration, wisdom will arise
All those feelings of suffering stem from “discontent”. If things do not turn out the way we want, we will feel miserable. Thus, to overcome the feelings of suffering, we should practise the method: not reviving the past, not dreaming of the future; dwelling in the present moment. This is the mindful practice to eliminate suffering.
Meditation is a great tonic for our mind and body. If you are exhausted and stressed, you just need to meditate for 15 minutes to regain your physical and mental balance
We are living in a materialistic world. Technology and economy develop in a fast way, leading to the growth of our desire for material things, money, etc. Seriously, the desire for material goods does not bring long-term contentment, genuine feeling of happiness and peace.
If you think, act, and speak with good intention in every moment, you can attain a peaceful mind. Such is the core value of Buddhism, to guide sentient beings to happiness and a more fulfilled life.
