Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh presented 300 tons of rice to the Cuban
Accepting the invitation of Buddhists living and working in Cuba, Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh went to this beautiful country for Buddhist affairs on October 8, 2023.
In the capital La Havana, Thay and the delegation had a warm and friendly meeting with Mr. Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba.
Welcoming Thay and the delegation at the Office of the President, Mr. Diaz-Canel expressed his delight and enthusiasm because of the visit.
In the open and friendly atmosphere of the meeting, Thay emphasized the close bond between Cuba and Vietnam.
With firm handshakes, Mr. Diaz-Canel sent his gratitude to the monks, nuns, and Buddhists of Ba Vang Pagoda for donating 100 tons of rice to the Cubans in 2022.
Upon this meeting, Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh expressed to Mr. President his aspiration of building a Vietnamese pagoda in Cuba so that the Vietnamese living and working in Cuba could have a place to cultivate Buddhism.
Mr. Diaz-Canel was pleased to receive Thay's proposal and assigned the ministries, departments, and special branches to consider and resolve this.
On the occasion of this visit, in order to support the Cubans with their food difficulties, Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh, on behalf of monks, nuns, and Buddhists of Ba Vang Pagoda donated 300 tons of rice to the Cubans.
Mr. Diaz-Canel was very grateful for the gift. On behalf of the Cubans, he sincerely appreciated the heartfelt support from Vietnamese monks, nuns, Buddhists, and Vietnamese people.
