Announcement: Ba Vang Pagoda Grand Vesak Celebration BE 2570 - CE 2026
Dear lay Buddhists and people of all faiths,
Another Vesak season has arrived in the joyful hearts of Buddhists across the five continents. This is not only a sacred occasion to celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, but also an opportunity to honor the profound humanitarian values of Buddhism that foster peace and happiness for all beings.
In preparation for this event, Elder Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon – Vice Supreme Patriarch of the Advisory Council and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), has officially signed and issued the Circular on the Grand Vesak Celebration BE 2570.
In accordance with this circular, Ba Vang Pagoda solemnly organizes the Grand Vesak Celebration to help lay Buddhists and people share in the joy of the Buddhas birthday and spread the spirit of compassion, unity, and peace throughout humanity.
Main date: May 24, 2026 (the eighth day of the fourth lunar month)
Detailed timeline:
1. May 20, 21, and 22, 2026 (the fourth, fifth, and sixth day of the fourth lunar month)
- 8:00 PM daily: Musical performances in praise of Vesak
2. May 24, 2026 (the eighth day of the fourth lunar month)
- 4:00 AM: Three rounds of the Prajna bell and drum, followed by sutra chanting in celebration of the Buddhas birth and prayers for national peace and prosperity
- 7:00 AM: Transmission of the Eight Precepts
- 8:00 AM: Grand Vesak Celebration at Ba Vang Pagoda BE 2570 - CE 2026
- 2:15 PM: Sitting meditation session
- 3:00 PM: Dharma sermon
- 6:30 PM: Vesak art performance night BE 2570 - CE 2026
