As the monks donate their own blood to those in need, they are cultivating compassion and loving-kindness. Out of the three fields of merits in life, sentient beings are one of them. “Sentient beings are the Field of Compassion. We have compassion towards all beings in suffering and we want to help them, thus we obtain blessings,” Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh once taught. Gautama Buddha himself had sacrificed his own bodies many times to help those in need throughout his past lifetimes.

Blood donation – a wise way to cultivate compassion and loving-kindness.
Hopefully, every drop of the Buddha's disciples will help save the recipients' lives as well as connect them and those involved in this donation with Buddhism.
